What a fantastic sweep, go Highlanders!
Congrats to the all of the McLean HS orchestras, bands, and choirs for their AWESOME performances! Overall, Philharmonic Orchestra earned 1st place with a Gold rating, Symphonic Orchestra earned 2nd place with a Gold rating, and Concert Orchestra earned a Bronze rating. Special shout out to our student conductor, Tashi Gyatso, and soloists Minseon Kim and Charlie Tucker of the Philharmonic Orchestra for earning the coveted Maestro awards for their outstanding work on Josef Suk's Serenade for Strings. Aside from our 1st & 2nd place rankings, we also recieved the “Outstanding Orchestral Group” trophy, given to the entire MHS Orchestra program for being the highest scoring orchestras at the competition this weekend in Orlando! Not to mention the fantastic trophy that the entire McLean HS Music Department won for having the highest total combined ensemble performance scores. What a fantastic sweep, go Highlanders!
