We are pleased to announce that the McLean High School Philharmonic Orchestra has accepted an honorable invitation to perform at the 2019 Virginia Music Educators Association Conference at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA this upcoming November. This performance is one of the highest honors that a public school music program can receive in the state of Virginia. Applications for this process were “blind,” and consisted of submitting two anonymous recordings – one from this school year and one last school year – that were listened to by a committee of professionals and chosen solely on their musical and technical excellence. Only two high school and two middle school orchestras from the entire state are chosen to perform at the conference!
The orchestra is excited for this special opportunity to share their passions and present what we love to music educators from around the state as a continuing representation of Fairfax County Public School outstanding music programs. We will put on a 60 minute concert that will be open to the public, but mainly attended by other music educators form around the state (elementary to college level teachers from the disciplines of band, chorus, orchestra, guitar, and general music). The McLean Philharmonic's performance will take place at 1:45PM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the Mount Vernon/Stratford rooms at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA.
