Hit the road without a hitch this morning! After a quick stop for a snack in Deleware and enjoying a movie on the bus, we are about 45 minutes from Manhattan. First stop is Rockefeller Center for lunch, then onto the Carroll Music Studios for our workshop with the NY Philharmonic! Stay tuned!
Due to the AP testing schedule, the final McLean HS Spring Orchestra Concert has been rescheduled from May 6th to June 4th. Again, THE SPRING CONCERT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 4TH AT 7PM IN THE AUDITORIUM.
Mark your calendars NOW. Be there, be on time...NO EXCUSES! All students are expected to report to our Spring Concert on June 4th. If you go to www.FCPS.edu & scroll down to the bottom right hand corner, you will find a small segment from Red Apple 21 (the FCPS TV channel) on the MHS Philharmonic's trip to Detmold, Germany! Too cool!
Red Apple 21 will be doing another, longer segment on the exchange program next June, after the Detmold Youth Orchestra comes to the USA. On Saturday, March 8th, select students from the McLean HS Philharmonic Orchestra participated in performing as part of the Corcoran Gallery of Art's "Family Day" festivities. Musicians accompanied vocalists and dancers as part of McLean HS's Project Enlightenment and Living History students reenacted 18th century French life, surrounded by art from the period. Here are the rehearsal and performance times for each orchestra participating in this year's District XII Orchestra Assessment at South Lakes High School on Saturday, March 22nd.. We will be taking SCHOOL BUSES as our transportation, so please see below for details. All students must take the school bus to and from the performance. We will need parent volunteers to help drive cellos and basses to South Lakes HS. CONCERT & SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA:
There will be NO excused absences for these rehearsals. BE THERE, and BE ON TIME.
PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA:
Parents, family, and friends are welcome and encouraged to come see each concert, as the adjudicated concerts are free and open to the public. Warm up and sight reading sessions are private. |
