The McLean High School Orchestra (MHSO)
program seeks to provide a stimulating orchestral experience for its student
musicians. We provide an environment for students to explore music as a life
skill, either as a vocation or as an avocation. Serious students of music also
are offered the opportunity and challenge of participating in chamber music. We
hope that upon graduation from MHS, all of our musicians take with them a
lifelong commitment and desire to continue in some way with their
music.

Thank You . . .
to all those who were able
to come out to the Ice Cream
Social/Orchestra
Registration. It was
great to meet some of the
new musicians and their
parents and also the
returning students and
parents.
For those who were unable to
attend, we aim to take care
of the Uniform Fittings,
Activity Fee Payment and
Instrument Rental
information during the first
week of school.

The
Orchestra
Parents Association
would like to welcome all new and returning students and parents to McLean HS
Orchestra, for the 2010-2011 School year. While we really hate to leave
our summer behind, we have checked out the Calendar,
and can see the exciting lineup of Concerts, Festivals, Trips, Competitions and
wonderful musical opportunities that are in store. Whether it is
your child's Senior year at McLean or your Freshman's first, we want to make
sure that their experience and yours, is positive, enlightening and fulfilling,
within the orchestra program.
The PARENTS Association is made up
entirely of Parents, whose volunteer efforts are directed to supporting not only
the student musicians, but the overall orchestra program. As a parent of a
child in orchestra, you are automatically a member. Every year, we have a
wealth of talented parents who come together to fill in the gaps where needed.
We meet on a monthly basis, to discuss how we can be most effective and you are
all invited and encouraged to attend. Your input is important to us.
Reminders for the meetings will be posted on the website home page.
Please review
the
Orchestra
PARENTS
Open
Volunteer Positions
and see if you can help in any area. These need not be
done solo, often several parents share, to lighten the load. Any
assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated and any questions we can
answer, please contact us.
THANK YOU
Eileen Nelson MHSOPA President |

MHS Orchestra await arrival of Detmold Friends
. . .
Saturday, May 28th - Saturday, June 4th, 2011
Once again the Mclean High School Orchestra
will be hosting friends, new and old from the Grabbe Gymnasium in
Detmold. The Detmold Jugendorchester, Music Director and
Chaperones will arrive in May, 2011. We will begin planning
for their arrival and housing needs (44 students) at the beginning of the school
year.
We will need to reach out to all our orchestra families in order to
make this a success and will be providing details of what is needed
and how you can help, in the near future.
Please consider being part of this wonderful exchange program and
please stay tuned for further information.
