District XII Orchestra Assessment

The District XII Orchestra Assessment is quite possibly the most important performance of our entire school year. Each year, we travel to a local high school and performing prepared pieces at our optimum performance level for 3 judges, followed by a short sight-reading session. After performing, we will receive grades and feedback from professional musicians for our performance on a I-V rating scale established by the Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association. (I = Superior, II = Excellent, III = Good, IV = Fair, V = Poor…the goal is to get straight I’s!)

District Assessment dates were distributed on the orchestra calendar at the beginning of the year, and all students are expected be present for a grade. There will be no excused absences given to students who miss this event.
